Why This Is So Late

I do apologize for getting this up so late but I was just swamped with things to do and be involved with the past few days. Sorry, bros and sisters.

Anyway, to try and make it up, here are some random links that may possibly be of interest:

Mashstix, which is a page of free mashups and other doo-dads.

Here is a mashup blog from Mutant Pop.

I'll be back during this upcoming weekend, and I will be more punctual this time.

A Combo Akin To A Peanut Butter & Banana Sandwich

I was going to put this up on Wednesday night but got sidetracked until now; my apologies. My next mashup spotlight will be a week from tonight, I promise.

I'm sure many of you know that one of Elvis's favorite dishes was a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. To me at least it sounds like an odd combo, but back in 2003 when I was in Memphis for a few days with some friends for Spring Break, I ate at a restaurant that offered up the dish, and it was pretty damned good. To me that's what mashups can be like too; putting together two or more things that you'd swear would never go together well, but end up doing so. For example, the song I'm spotlighting here...

The industrial metal band known as Rammstein and the 80's rap duo Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock are two groups that you would swear could never go together in any way, yet with Sean McColgan's It Takes Du, he combined the former's Du Hast and the latter's It Takes Two to great effect, with the music from the metal band and the rapping from the rappers. It works very well, take my word for it. There's also a brief cameo from a famous disco song from the late 70's. I'm sure you'll like it as much as I do.

Note that I haven't been able to find any working website for Sean McColgan (SMC) but I did find a working link for the mashup, so that's what I'm using here.

My Grapevine Life

Here is a mashup I downloaded a few years ago, but still enjoy even to this day. It is from Steve Lima, otherwise known as Futuro. The track is not available at his page, though, so I'll host it myself. I'm not familiar with the other stuff he's done, but quite frankly, when you create a great song like this, that's how I'll forever remember you by.

He combined Marvin Gaye's version of I Heard It Through The Grapevine with the 80's song It's My Life by Talk Talk; here, I prefer the original to the remake that was out a few years ago, although I first heard the No Doubt version and it took some time before I found out it wasn't an original by them! Whoops. Anyhow, if you enjoy both songs (or even if you don't) then you should enjoy this also, as they go together like peanut butter and jelly.

I'll be back on the 11th with another mashup to spotlight.

Check Back Here Wednesday Night

My apologies for pushing things back, but I've been swamped the past 2 or so weeks, so it will be Wednesday night when I'll post a new upload.
