If you haven't looked yet, head over to my other blog where I posted a new song a few minutes ago. The mashup I'm posting today is a half hour long mix where the first song uses the music from that track over a different vocal.
DJ Riko, from San Diego, is best known for what has to be one of the best mashups of all time, P-Funk Is Playing At My House, a much better version of Daft Punk Is Playing At My House* which used a new female vocal and samples from George Clinton's musical empire. The mix I'm highlighting includes the song, along with a few others Riko has done before. The mix is on his tunes page as "Superchunk Mix" and it's about a 40 MB download. All the samples are listed, although many of them are for a song in the middle where Riko includes bits of whistling from many different songs.
· Truth be told I heard the mashup before I heard the original. Once I did hear the original I thought the tune was ruined by a truly awful vocal so I think P-Funk is clearly superior to the hipster bullshit from LCD Soundsystem.
The first song in the mix is the one I'm pointing out. It takes the Lemon Jelly song and adds a vocal from Ice-T over it. It works quite well; the rest of the mix is also worth hearing.
